Shifts: Evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Compensation: Pay Grade 107 (based on experience)

Position Summary

The Security Specialist is responsible for providing operational support and technical guidance to school security personnel and administrative staff. This role also includes delivering training on safety and security procedures to school staff, ensuring a secure and well-managed campus environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor security systems, including alarm panels, surveillance cameras, and scanners
• Prevent and detect criminal activity and safety hazards across the campus
• Enforce parking regulations and other district policies
• Respond to and report security incidents in a timely and professional manner
• Conduct regular patrols to identify unauthorized individuals
• Ensure all areas of the campus and surrounding property remain secure during shifts
• Prepare clear, accurate, and detailed incident reports
• Collaborate with site administrators to address and resolve security concerns
• Train staff on proper use of security systems and safety procedures
• Assist in handling and restraining violators when necessary, following legal and ethical standards
• Escort or remove unauthorized individuals from the premises appropriately
• Follow all district policies and perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Previous experience in security or law enforcement (preferred)
• Ability to remain calm and maintain emotional control under pressure
• Proficiency in operating security equipment
• Strong report-writing skills with attention to detail
• Ability to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Effective communication skills with students, staff, parents, and the community
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Willingness to adhere to uniform and grooming standards
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and public relations skills

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
• Manual dexterity for data entry and computer use
• Visual ability to read screens and printed materials (with or without aids)
• Ability to hear and communicate clearly in various environments
• Physical mobility, including bending, climbing stairs, walking, and reaching
• Capability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
